KAI Commuter beri pendampingan korban pelecehan di kereta
KAI Commuter, the largest commuter train operator in Indonesia, has recently introduced a new initiative to provide support and assistance to victims of harassment on its trains. The initiative, called “Beri Pendampingan Korban Pelecehan di Kereta” (Support for Victims of Harassment on Trains), aims to create a safer and more secure environment for passengers, especially women and children, who may be vulnerable to harassment while using public transportation.
Harassment on public transportation is a serious issue that affects millions of people around the world. In Indonesia, many women and girls have reported experiencing verbal and physical harassment while traveling on trains, buses, and other forms of public transportation. These incidents can have a lasting impact on the victims, causing them to feel unsafe and anxious about using public transportation in the future.
To address this issue, KAI Commuter has partnered with local NGOs and women’s rights organizations to train a team of volunteers who will be stationed at various train stations to provide support and assistance to victims of harassment. These volunteers, known as “pendamping” (companions), have been trained to respond to incidents of harassment in a sensitive and compassionate manner, and to provide victims with information about their rights and options for seeking help.
In addition to providing support to victims, the pendamping team will also work to raise awareness about the issue of harassment on trains and educate passengers about how they can help prevent and respond to incidents of harassment. They will also work closely with KAI Commuter staff and security personnel to ensure that the trains are safe and secure for all passengers.
The “Beri Pendampingan Korban Pelecehan di Kereta” initiative is an important step towards creating a safer and more inclusive public transportation system in Indonesia. By providing support and assistance to victims of harassment, KAI Commuter is sending a clear message that harassment will not be tolerated on its trains, and that all passengers have the right to travel safely and without fear.
As we continue to work towards creating a more equitable and just society, it is important for all of us to stand up against harassment and violence in all its forms. KAI Commuter’s initiative is a shining example of how public transportation operators can play a role in creating safer and more inclusive communities for all. Let us all join hands in supporting this important initiative and working towards a future where everyone can travel safely and without fear.
